JORDAN – Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, chairperson of the Jordan Boy and Girl Scouts, presided at a significant ceremony organized by the Scouts Northern Zerka, marking the group’s 50th foundation anniversary.
The ceremony was held at the Fr. Mario Furlan Hall, in presence of Bishop William Shomali, Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan, Governor of Zerka, police inspector, chiefs of security and civil departments, parish priests of Zerka, scouts leaders in Jordan, public officials, guests, and supporters.
The ceremony began with the unveiling of the Golden Jubilee Stone by Her Royal Highness, followed by the National Anthem, and a film showing of the different founding stages of the Scout Movement at the Latin Convent in Northern Zerka from 1967 to date.
Bishop Shomali welcomed Her Royal Highness and the audience, thanking her for supporting the Scout movement and activities which are important in preparing the scouts to become active members in their community. He also thanked all of the supporters.
Her Royal Highness expressed her joy in sponsoring this ceremony, highlighting the importance of the Scout movement, the efforts and sacrifices to get to the highest ideals of developing talents and skills of the members, helping them to make productive use of their time that is physically and spiritually beneficial, fostering unity within the Jordanian society, working together in facing challenges with the hope that Jordan remains to be an oasis of security and stability under the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
To conclude the event, Her Royal Highness presented the scout shields to the members, former leaders, and groups who are supporting the Scout movement in Jordan, in appreciation for their efforts to raising the quality of activities and category of the Scout movement.
